A Grounding Meditation on the Elements of Nature

It can be so easy to forget how to be grounded in our world where we are continually drawn into screens, schedules and silent stress. But the remedy to our impatience is in something primeval and uncomplicated: nature. The five elements known in the cultures of all centuries namely, earth, water, fire, air, and space have represented balance in the outer world as well as the inner self. By practicing a form of grounding meditation that is concentrated on these aspects, we slowly are reintroduced into our physical body, emotional flow, inner-power, breath and awareness. It is not regarding life escaping, but it is about having a deep rooted aspect on a position where the chaos will never shake you anymore.

Earth: Stability

The earth element signifies support, strength and solidity. During the mediation, all you start with is paying attention to the weight of your body on the ground. Get your feet planted have your back straight. Suppose that roots came out of you into the ground and took root in the ground. Earth energy sheds light on the fact that you are supported. There is something beneath you keeping everything together even in situations when life is uncertain. This aspect fosters tolerance, safety and confidence in the present.

Water: Flow

Water represents passion, versatility and liberation. As you bring your conscious to your thoughts pay attention to your emotions without opposition. Emotions are like a river and they are flowing when they are free. Imagine a peaceful flow of water that removes stress and anxiety. Flexibility, how to bend without breaking, water can do that. This aspect assists in setting grounds meditation to blur tight thoughts and induce the easy acceptance of anything coming along.

Fire: Energy

Fire is change, lust, and self-power. Focus on the warmth in your physical body might be in your chest-or-belly. Imagine a burning fire that burns in you. It is not crazy or devastating but manages and makes you stronger. This fire causes inspiration and strength. You are connected to your motivation and sanity when you meditate in a fire energy. It makes you remember that in the darkness, a light spark may show you the way.

Air: Breath

Movement, breath and freedom are aired. Pay attention to your breathing in and breathing out. Be aware of the ease with which the air passes in and out of your body. Breathing is a lesson that there is flow of life running through you. Air blows away the clouds of mind, and makes way to peaceful thought. With each deep breath, envision the air touching your face and washing away worries and stress that trillion opinion, and improving the lightness of your thoughts.

Space: Awareness

Space is often termed as ether which is the aspect of openness and consciousness. Once, you have a ground in the physical elements, extend your consciousness. Listen to that silence in between breaths, The silentness behind thought. The space enables the existence of everything. It is immense, accommodative and unlimited. During meditation, this aspect assists you to take a step back on your worries and look at life without being attached.

Connecting the Elements

You are sitting and at this moment, understand that all these five elements are in you. You are made of earth, You are made of water, You are made of fire, You are made of air, You are made of space Your awareness. This understanding brings about a balance. You do not exist outside nature, you are a reflection of it. Grounding meditation also appears as a reconciliation and not a method.

Balancing Emotions

Being overwhelmed, one can put emphasis on the particular aspect to achieve the equilibrium. Feeling scattered? Connect with earth. Emotionally heavy? Invite water to flow. Lacking motivation? Ignite your inner fire. Anxious? Return to the breath of air. Mentally crowded? Expand into space. The elements provide easy but effective emotional regulation.

Daily Practice

Mountains or forests are not needed in this type of meditation. You may rehearse in your bedroom, your desk or in the street. Take a couple of minutes every day riding in the weather. Gradually, you can experience that you are more relaxed and more focused and grounded in who you are.
